UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION II 245 PEACHTREE CENTER AVENUE NE, SUITE 1200 ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30303-1257 December 12, 2014 Joseph W. Shea Vice President, Nuclear Licensing Tennessee Valley Authority 1101 Market Street LP 3R-C Chattanooga, TN 37402
SUBJECT:
SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR STATION, NOTIFICATION OF INSPECTION AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 05000327 AND 05000328
Dear Mr. Shea:
From January 26 - 30, 2015, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will perform the baseline Public Radiation Safety Inspection at the Sequoyah Nuclear Station for NRC Inspection Procedures (IPs) 71124.06, 71124.07, and 71151. Experience has shown that this inspection is resource-intensive both for the NRC inspectors and your staff. In order to minimize the impact to your onsite resources and to ensure a productive inspection, we have enclosed a request for documents needed for this inspection. It is important that all of these documents are up-to-date and complete, in order to minimize the number of additional documents requested during the preparation and/or the onsite portions of the inspection.
We have discussed the schedule for these inspection activities with your staff, and understand that our regulatory contact for this inspection will be Rebecca Travis at 423-843-8335 of your organization, and that the material be available for review by January 12, 2015. If there are any questions about this inspection or the material requested, please contact the lead inspector, Ruben Hamilton at 404-997-4672.
This letter does not contain new or amended information collection requirements subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). Existing information collection requirements were approved by the Office of Management and Budget, under control numbers 3150-0011, 3150-0014, and 3150-0135. The NRC may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a request for information or an information collection requirement unless the requesting document displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget control number.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 2.390, Public inspections, exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter, and its Enclosure, will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's

Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS); accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/ reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
Sincerely,
/RA/

71124.06 Radioactive Gaseous and Liquid Effluent Treatment 71124.07 Radiological Environmental Monitoring Program 71151 Performance Indicator Verification Occupational and Public Radiation Safety Cornerstones Note: The current version of these documents is expected unless specified otherwise.
Electronic media is preferred if readily available (The preferred file format is Word, or searchable.pdf files on CDROM). [Note that the inspectors cannot accept data provided on USB or flash drives due to NRC IT security policies.] Please organize the information as it is arranged below to the extent possible. Experience has shown that a poorly organized CD leads to a less efficient inspection, and places additional burden on licensee staff. If there are questions regarding the documents requested, please do not hesitate to contact the lead inspector. It is preferable that the initial installment of documents not require Internet access to review them.
Documentation is requested from the date of the last time the effluents and environmental programs were inspected, June 7, 2013, to present. However, information for Inspection Procedure (IP) 71151 is requested from June 6, 2014, to present.
We would prefer as much of the information as possible in electronic form. An index to the contents is also helpful. For those items requesting a list of documents/areas, the inspectors will select documents/areas from the list for onsite review. If any of the requested information is too burdensome to provide electronically or as hard copies, simply indicate that the requested material is available for onsite review by the inspectors.
If you have any questions, please call Ruben Hamilton at 404-997-4672. Thank you in advance for all your effort in putting together this material.
