Please forgive my lack of quotes and formal references. I listened to 3 days of meetings of the ACRS. Most of my problematical areas came from casual conversation which I overheard at breaks. I was aided and abetted by Ruth Thomas.
Here are a few goodies:
"I could show any plant could be destroyed in flood. Anon. Referring to Fort Calhoun or Boone Dam cascade failure.
"Open phase condition was hidden for years and was a manufacturer's original error that NRC did not know about. This may continue on many plants."Anon.
Other matters of heightened concern included gas line at Indian Point and problems at Grand Gulf.
The above were issues that can destroy a nuclear plant. The letter from ACRS to the Commissioners will provide strategies to allow these dicey nukes to continue operating. Ask the ACRS for the letter coming out now on beyond basis events.
