SUBJECT:

EXTENSION OF THE PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD ON THE PROPOSED REVISIONS TO NRC ENFORCEMENT POLICY, 79 FR 61,107 (OCT. 9, 2014)

Dear Ms. Cottingham:

In your October 15, 2014 letter (Agencywide Document Access and Management System Accession No. ML14297A314), the Nuclear Energy Institute, Inc. (NEI) requested a 30 day extension to the public comment period for the proposed revisions to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Enforcement Policy (79 FR 61,107). In your letter, you stated that the proposed changes covered several significant enforcement topics and that the NEI needed sufficient time to develop informed and useful comments on behalf of the nuclear industry.

After taking your letter under consideration, the NRC has decided to grant all stakeholders an extension to the public comment period for the proposed revisions to the NRC Enforcement Policy. This additional time will extend the public comment period until December 22, 2014.

If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Gerry Gulla of my staff at 301-415-2872 or via e-mail Gerald.Gulla@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

/RA by Nicholas Hilton for/
