INTERIM 10 CFR PART 21 REPORT REGARDING SUBMODULE AND EMBEDMENT DEVIATIONS FOR V.C. SUMMER UNIT 2 AP1000 PROJECT The attachment to this letter provides an interim report in accordance with 10 CFR 21.21 pertaining to submodule and embedment deviations for the V.C. Summer Unit 2 AP1000 nuclear project. Based on information described in site quality control inspection reports, deviations were identified in the Unit 2 CA-01 and CA-05 structural submodules, and also in some safety-related embedments.

Evaluation of reportability in accordance with 10 CFR Part 21 was not able to be completed within the 60-day evaluation period due to the recent discovery that the initial evaluation of these conditions incorrectly determined that no additional evaluation was required. These conditions were discovered during reviews conducted due to discovery of other similar conditions. It is currently expected that the evaluation of these conditions will be completed by October 21, 2014.

Attachment to Letter Dated August 27, 2014 Page 1 of 2 INTERIM 10 CFR PART 21 REPORT REGARDING STRUCTURAL SUBMODULE AND EMBEDMENT DEVIATIONS FOR V.C. SUMMER UNIT 2 AP1000 PROJECT This report is being provided as an interim report in accordance with 10 CFR 21.21.

(i) Name and address of the individual or individuals informing the Commission.

Mr. Don DePierro CB&I Nuclear 128 S. Tryon St., Suite 1000 Charlotte, NC 28202 (ii) Identification of the facility, the activity, or the basic component supplied for such facility or such activity within the United States which fails to comply or contains a defect.

No basic components have been determined to fail to comply or contain a defect. This is an interim report. The identified deviations pertain to V.C. Summer Unit 2 API000 nuclear project CA-01 and CA-05 structural submodules, and also some safety-related embedments for the Nuclear Island Auxiliary Building walls and floors.

(iii) Identification of the finn constructing the facility or supplying the basic component which fails to comply or contains a defect.

No basic components have been determined to fail to comply or contain a defect. This is an interim report. The deviations pertaining to submodule fabrication are associated with structural submodules supplied by CB&I Lake Charles, 3191 West Lincoln Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605. The embedments with deviations were supplied by Cives Steel Company, 102 Airport Road, Thomasville, GA 31757.

(iv) Nature of the defect or failure to comply and the safety hazard which is created or could be created by such defect or failure to comply.

No basic components have been determined to fail to comply or contain a defect. This is an interim report. The deviations pertaining to CA-01 and CA-05 structural submodules include unsatisfactory welds, stud spacing, and surface indications. The deviations pertaining to the safety-related embedments for the Nuclear Island Auxiliary Building walls and floors include unsatisfactory reinforcement welds, bent studs, and plate dimensions. Evaluation of these conditions is expected to be completed by October 21, 2014.

(v) The date on which the information of such defect or failure to comply was obtained.

The discovery dates of the deviations based on the dates of the inspection reports are June 5 and 6, 2014.

(viii) Any advice related to the defect or failure to comply about the facility, activity, or basic component that has been, is being, or will be given to purchasers or licensees.
