Shutdown information

Patrick, Good evening. I spoke with Dr. Hassan this evening concerning the upcoming renovation project to Zachry Engineering Center, which houses the AGN. We would like to request regulatory guidance concerning maintaining the reactor in a secured state during this renovation project while maintaining our facility license. What type of approval would be required to suspend reactor operations during the renovation project.

One path forward under consideration would limit facility access while maintaining the reactor in a secured state. Since the duration of construction may exceed two years, my main question would concern the inability to perform critical maintenance items. Could we perform non critical maintenance items during this period and perform critical items as part of a restart plan after the project is completed? I would also assume we would continue to be bound by the requirements set forth in our emergency plan and security plan, correct?

Any information you can provide would be helpful. If you would like to speak with me concerning this matter, I will be available tomorrow for most of the morning. There is a time sensitive nature to this request. We must submit a report prior to September 1. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Chris
