Mr. Lawrence S. Criscione, PE 1412 Dial Court Springfield, IL 62704

Dear Mr. Criscione:

Your e-mail dated July 8, 2014 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML14232A390, redacted version without attachments), addressed to Missouri State Representative Kirkton and copied to Chairman Macfarlane, et al., U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), has been referred to the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.

As described and referenced in Chairman Macfarlanes letter to Representative Kirkton dated July 1, 2014 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14139A395), the NRC has addressed your concerns regarding the October 21, 2003, Callaway Plant shutdown, which occurred nearly 11 years ago, multiple times through correspondence and meetings. You may disagree with some of the NRC staffs findings, but the NRC has concluded, based on its independent inspection and investigation, that the event did not endanger public health and safety. Furthermore, there has been no evidence obtained during the inspection or investigation that would indicate that there was wrongdoing, such as a cover up, concerning the shutdown. Therefore, this matter is closed and, in the absence of new information, there is no regulatory or safety basis for the NRC to expend further resources related to the October 21, 2003, Callaway Plant shutdown.

Sincerely, Daniel H. Dorman, Acting Director Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-483 cc: See next page
