SUBJECT:
Special Report - Technical Specification Table 3.2.F, Inoperable Containment High Range Radiation Instrument Channel Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Docket No. 50-293 License No. DPR-35
Dear Sir or Madam:
This special report is submitted in accordance with Pilgrim Station's Technical Specifications Table 3.2.F, "Surveillance Instrumentation", Note 7. Note 7 requires the submittal of a special report if the "Minimum Number of Operable Instrument Channels" is not met for a surveillance instrument parameter for a period exceeding 7 days.
Containment High Radiation (Drywell) Channel "B" Instruments RIT-1001-606B and RR-1001-606B were removed from service to perform an upgrade modification on June 19, 2014. The installation of the modification took longer than planned. The modified Containment High Radiation (Drywell)
Channel "B" Instrument RIT-1001-606B failed post work testing on June 28, 2013. Troubleshooting of the instrument determined that the connector for the detector to high voltage power supply cable needed to be replaced. Re-performance of the post work testing of the Containment High Radiation (Drywell) Channel "B" Instrument RIT-1001-606B is currently scheduled for July 3, 2014.
The Containment High Radiation (Drywell) Channel "A" Instruments are operable.
This letter contains no regulatory commitments.
