SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT RELATED TO THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1
Dear Mr. Diya:
By letter dated December 15, 2011, Union Electric Company (Ameren Missouri or the applicant) submitted an application to renew operating license No. NPF-30 for Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (Callaway). The license renewal application (LRA) was submitted pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 54, Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants. The staff determined that the LRA was complete and acceptable for docketing on February 24, 2012.
Since that time, the staff has reviewed the Callaway LRA, performed site audits and inspections, issued requests for additional information (RAIs), reviewed the applicants responses to the staffs RAIs, developed a safety evaluation report (SER) with open items dated April 23, 2013, and subsequently met with the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS)
Subcommittee on May 22, 2014. The staff has closed the open items, and has developed the enclosed SER to document its findings associated with the safety review of the LRA and supporting documentation for Callaway, Unit 1.
