UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REGION II 245 PEACHTREE CENTER AVENUE NE, SUITE 1200 ATLANTA, GEORGIA 30303-1257 July 1, 2014 Mr. Alex Flint, Senior Vice President Governmental Affairs Nuclear Energy Institute 1201 F St., NW, Suite 1100 Washington, DC 20004-1218
Dear Mr. Flint (Alex):
I just wanted to take a moment to write you to express my sincere thanks for the very informative presentation that you gave during the recent NRC Region II Integrated Counterpart Meeting in Atlanta. Your stimulating insights on how politics affects and shapes regulation were very well received and provided an interesting perspective on our regulatory environment. My staff receives training and indoctrination into the NRC, and how our organization and the Commission operate, but it was very worthwhile to receive your unique inside the beltway perspective.
Based on the feedback from participants, I can confidently say that you were well received by all in attendance, and your presentation slides and presentation video have been the most requested. This assessment is particularly noteworthy given the variety of speakers and topics presented during this multi-day meeting.
In sum, your perspectives on politics, current issues, and the NRC were thoughtful, enlightening, practical, and useful. We look forward to having you join us again in the future.
Once again, thank you for joining us and for doing an outstanding job!
Sincerely,
/RA/
