MB1977)

Gentlemen:

I am writing in response to the CoJDicission's October 7, 2003 request for a plan for full or panial divestiture of the Aerotest Radiography and Research .Reactor (ARRR).

In the intervening weeks we bave been engaged in discussions with two parties, each of whom has expressed an interest in acquiring ownership ofthe facility. While we understand the need to address this situation as expeditiously as possible, we feel that we need additional time to evaluate whether either of these opportunities is viable, and if not.

to prepare and present alternate divestiture and negation plans. I would, therefore, respectfully request an additional4S days from the date hereofto present our plan to the Commission.

Thanlc you for your attention to this matter.

Very truly yours, Michael S. Anderson Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel cc: Marvin Mendonca Mail Stop: 012-GIJ
