ASSESSMENT FOLLOW-UP LETTER FOR FERMI POWER PLANT, UNIT 2
Dear Mr. Plona:
As a result of our continuous review of plant performance, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) updated its assessment of Fermi Power Plant, Unit 2. This review consisted of an evaluation of performance indicators and inspection results. This letter informs you of our updated assessment and the plans for a future inspection at your facility. This letter supplements, but does not supersede, the annual assessment letter issued on March 4, 2014 (ML14063A272).
On May 29, 2014, we issued a letter (ML14150A041) with the final significance determination for one or more greater-than-green inspection finding(s) in the Security Cornerstone of the NRC Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix. We have determined that performance at the Fermi Power Plant was in the Regulatory Response Column of the Action Matrix beginning the first quarter of 2014. Based on this determination, we will conduct a supplemental inspection, using Inspection Procedure (IP) 95001, Supplemental Inspection for One or Two White Inputs in a Strategic Performance Area, when you notify us of your readiness for the NRC to review the actions taken to address this finding.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRC's document system (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
