Monday, June 02, 2014 6:01 PM CHAIRMAN Resource To the honorable NRC Chairwoman Alison MacFarlane, "In her dissent, Macfarlane castigated the staff for essentially shoddy research: "In my view, the staff has not adequately explored the issue of spent fuel management in the pool and as a result, I do not have adequate information on which to base a view on the need to require approaches that may lead to some form of expedited transfer of spent fuel from pools to dry casks.""
Thank you, Madame Chairman, you are a hero. But, I'm afraid, you're going to be out of there soon. A dissenting voice, spoken in favor of safety for human beings living around a nuclear power plant is not something that the arm of the nuclear industry, the NRC, will allow to speak out. It's happened before, Dr. Gregory Jazcko is our other hero because he was the voice of reason before you were chosen.
I live 30 miles away from the almost 43 year old Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station and I'm in fear of it because of my family, my 4 grandchildren, my life on the Cape. It's wrong what the NRC has decided about NOT moving the overloaded fuel assemblies to dry cask storage. It goes against all science.
I admire you.
