Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Docket 50-293 License No. DPR-35 Special Report - TS Table 3.2.F, Inoperable Reactor Building Vent Radiation Monitor LETTER NUMBER:

2.14.034

Dear Sir or Madam:

This special report is submitted in accordance with Pilgrim Station's Technical Specifications Table 3.2.F, "Surveillance Instrumentation", Note 7. Note 7 requires the submittal of a special report if the Reactor Building Vent Radiation Monitor RT-1001-609 becomes inoperable and is not restored to operable status within 7 days.

On March 30, 2014, during performance of daily calibration test in accordance with Pilgrim procedure 2.1.5, Attachment 2, the trip adjustment test for the Reactor Building Vent Radiation Monitor RT-1001-609 failed and the instrument was declared inoperable. Limiting Condition of Operability (LCO) ACT-1-14-0043 was activated to capture the inoperable status.

The instrument was repaired and restored to operable status on April 7, 2014. The cause of the inoperability was a failed transistor on the A2 power supply board which was replaced.

This letter contains no regulatory commitments.

Please contact Joseph Lynch, Regulatory Assurance Manager, at (508) 830-8403, if there are any questions regarding this subject.
