Site  : SALEM Emergency Class  : NON EMERGENCY "At approximately 0940 [EDT] a deceased sturgeon and at approximately 10:44 two live sturgeons, were removed from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeons were confirmed by a site biological expert to be Atlantic sturgeons which is an 'endangered' species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1044 and the NJDEP Division of Fish &

Wildlife at 1046, concerning the deceased Atlantic sturgeon by Environmental Licensing.

"A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1058 and the NJDEP Division of Fish &

Wildlife at 1050, concerning the two living Atlantic sturgeons by Environmental Licensing."

The licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector.

Notified the R1DO (Powell) and Endangered Species Group via email.
