ASSESSMENT FOLLOW-UP LETTER FOR WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION
Dear Mr. Heflin:
As a result of its continuous review of plant performance, the NRC updated its assessment of Wolf Creek Generating Station on March 13, 2014. The NRCs evaluation consisted of a review of performance indicators and inspection results. This letter informs you of the NRCs assessment of and its plans for a future inspection at your facility. This letter supplements, but does not supersede, the annual assessment letter issued on March 4, 2014.
On March 6, 2014, the NRC issued Inspection Report 05000482/2014405 which informed you of the final significance determination of a Greater-than-Green inspection finding in the Security Cornerstone. The finding was previously documented in NRC Inspection Report 05000482/2013403, issued on December 10, 2013.
Based on issuance of a Greater-than-Green inspection finding in the Security Conernerstone, the NRC determined the performance at Wolf Creek Generating Station to be in the Regulatory Response Column of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix beginning in the fourth quarter of 2013. Therefore, the NRC plans to conduct a supplemental inspection. The NRC requests that your staff provide notification of your readiness for the NRC to conduct this supplemental inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, its enclosure, and your response, if you choose to provide one, will be made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the NRC's document system (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html. To the extent possible, your response should not include any personal privacy or proprietary, information so that it can be made available to the Public without redaction.
