DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY/FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, OGLE COUNTY EXERCISE DEFICIENCY FINDING TRANSMITTAL LETTER TO BYRON STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Pacilio:
We received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Region V letter dated February 20, 2014, for the February 6, 2014, partial participation Plume Exposure Pathway Exercise at the Byron Station, Units 1 and 2 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14073A412).
One Deficiency finding was identified by FEMA, Region V staff. The Deficiency finding for Ogle County was identified under Criterion 3.d.2. - an implementation process involving identification and resolution of impediments to evacuation. This issue was presented to the exercise participants during the participants briefing on February 7, 2014.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions, which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the Publicly Available Records System (PARS) component of NRC's Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS). ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public Electronic Reading Room).
