A summary of each RAI is included below, along with SMUD's response.

RAI # 1 Decommissioning Costs NRC Request: Provide the difference between actual and estimated costs for decommissioning work performed during the previous year.

SMUD Response: SMUD's remaining facilities licensed under 10 CFR 50 are currently in a mode similar to SAFSTOR, in which the facilities are being safely maintained but no active decommissioning work is taking place. The estimated and actual costs for 2012 maintenance activities are provided below.

DPG 14-006 Page 2 of 2 RAI # 2 Managing Irradiated Fuel NRC Request: Provide the total amount of dollars accumulated at the end of the appropriate year designated for managing irradiated fuel.

SMUD Response: On December 6, 2012, the SMUD Board of Directors approved annual funding in the amount of $4,699,627 for management of irradiated fuel for 2013.

SMUD approved these funds through the annual budgeting process. Therefore, at the end of 2012 SMUD had committed and accumulated $4,699,627 for the management of irradiated fuel for 2013.
