January 10, 2014 EA-13-208 Mr. John Sauger General Manager Zion Restoration Project ZionSolutions, LLC 101 Shiloh Boulevard Zion, IL 60099

SUBJECT:

RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION DATED NOVEMBER 14, 2013 -

ZION NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 & 2

Dear Mr. Sauger:

The purpose of this correspondence is to acknowledge receipt of ZionSolutions, LLC letter with enclosures dated December 12, 2013, in response to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) letter dated November 14, 2013, transmitting a Notice of Violation (Notice) and Inspection Report 05000295/2013011(DNMS); 05000304/2013011(DNMS).

The subject response identified the corrective actions that ZionSolutions, LLC has taken and plans to take to address the violation provided in the Notice and described in the NRC Inspection Report. These actions were clarified during a December 9, 2013, telephone discussion between Mr. Slawinski of my staff and Mr. Keene of the ZionSolutions staff. Based on that discussion, we understand that the desludging and chip collection system was placed into operation in the Unit-2 cavity on December 16, 2013. Following the cleanup of the Unit-2 cavity using that system, the equipment will be deployed to Unit-1 for cavity cleanup and will remain operational in Unit-1 until reactor internals segmentation is completed.

The NRC has reviewed the corrective actions, which appear to be adequate, and has no further questions at this time. These corrective actions will be examined during future inspections at the site.

J. Sauger In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRCs Public Document Room or from the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRCs website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

Sincerely,

/RA by Michael M. LaFranzo Acting for/
