Subject:

LaSalle County Station Response to Preliminary White Finding from NRC Integrated Inspection Report 05000373/2013004; 05000374/2013004

Reference:

Letter from K. G. O'Brien (U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission) to M. J. Pacilio (Exelon Generation Company, LLC), "LaSalle County Station, Units 1 and 2, NRC Integrated Inspection Report 05000373/2013004; 05000374/2013004 and Unit 2 Preliminary White Finding," dated November 15, 2013 The referenced letter identifies one self-revealing finding associated with the April 25, 2013, Unit 2 manual reactor scram at LaSalle County Station, which has preliminarily been determined to be of low to moderate safety significance (i.e., White). Specifically, operators failed to perform Unit 2 circulating water box dewatering in accordance with the written instructions contained in LaSalle operating procedure LOP-CW- 10, "Dewatering the Circulating Water System." The referenced letter provided EGC with the opportunity to either: 1) attend a Regulatory Conference and present to the NRC our perspective on the facts and assumptions the NRC used to arrive at the finding and assess its significance; or 2) submit our position on the finding to the NRC in writing.

In response to the referenced letter, EGC intends to provide a written response to present our perspectives on the facts and assumptions the NRC used to arrive at the preliminary White finding significance. EGC understands that the written response is due to the NRC within 30 days from the date of receipt of the referenced letter.
