Dear Mr. Pietrangelo:
On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I am responding to your letter of October 30, 2013, sharing insights from a recent meeting between U.S. Chief Nuclear Officers and their Japanese counterparts at Fukushima Daiichi and Daini.
Thank you for sharing your lessons learned and observations from the trip. This appears to have been an excellent opportunity for knowledge sharing within the international nuclear industry. The NRC has also found tremendous value in visiting the sites. I have passed on your letter to the Japan Lessons Learned Project Directorate so that they may consider your observations as stakeholder input as the agency and the industry strive to implement the lessons we have learned from the events in Fukushima.
