DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER, UNIT 1, NOTIFICATION OF NRC INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Anderson:
In a telephone conversation on October 29, 2013, Mr. R. K. Walton, Operator Licensing Branch, and Mr. M. Walters, Operations Training, made arrangements for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to conduct an inspection using Temporary Instruction (TI) 2515-186, Inspection of Procedures and Processes for Responding to Potential Aircraft Threats, at Duane Arnold Energy Center, Unit 1. Additionally, the NRC will conduct a partial 71111.11B requalification inspection (i.e., observe administration of operating test in the simulator). This inspection is planned for the week of December 2, 2013.
The NRC inspector will require a shift manager qualified individual, qualified unit supervisors, and a qualified security shift supervisor for a simulator or table-top scenario to allow inspection of TI 2515-186 attributes. In order to minimize the impact to your onsite resources, and to ensure a productive inspection for both sides, please have available the procedures that would be followed when responding to an aircraft threat and any related lesson plans pertinent to the inspection. Additionally, the inspector needs to review your aircraft threat procedure the week before the inspection. This document should be sent electronically to the inspector the week of November 24, 2013.
This letter does not contain new or amended information collection requirements subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). Existing information collection requirements were approved by the Office of Management and Budget, Control Number 3150-0011. The NRC may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a request for information or an information collection requirement unless the requesting document displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget Control Number.
