KEWAUNEE POWER STATION, UNIT 1, NOTIFICATION OF NRC INSPECTION
Dear Mr. Heacock:
In a meeting on September 2, 2013, Mr. D. McNeil, Senior Operations Engineer, and Ms. M. J. Haese, Regulatory Affairs, made arrangements for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to conduct an inspection using Temporary Instruction (TI) 2515/186, Inspection of Procedures and Processes for Responding to Potential Aircraft Threats, at Kewaunee Power Station, Unit 1. Based on the current status of your facility, this inspection will be of a limited scope. This inspection is planned for the week of November 4, 2013.
The NRC inspector will require an individual qualified to answer the stations emergency notification system phone, an individual knowledgeable of the stations emergency procedures, and a qualified security shift supervisor for a simulator or table-top scenario to allow inspection of TI 2515/186 attributes. The NRC inspector will also require an individual to walkdown the stations lighting system and simulate extinguishing the stations lighting during an aircraft threat event. Additionally, in order to minimize the impact to your onsite resources and to ensure a productive inspection for both sides, please have available the procedures that would be followed when responding to an aircraft threat and any related lesson plans pertinent to the inspection. Additionally, the inspector will need to review your aircraft threat procedure and a list of corrective action reports regarding security and licensed operator issues, the week before the inspection.
This letter does not contain new or amended information collection requirements subject to the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44 U.S.C. 3501 et seq.). Existing information collection requirements were approved by the Office of Management and Budget, Control Number 3150-0011. The NRC may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to, a request for information or an information collection requirement unless the requesting document displays a currently valid Office of Management and Budget Control Number.
