MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT EXTENDED POWER UPRATE APPLICATION
Dear Dr. Armijo:
During the 607th meeting of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS or the Committee) on September 5-7, 2013, the ACRS completed its review of the extended power uprate application for the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (Monticello), as well as the associated safety evaluation report prepared by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff.
The Committee provided its final report on the Monticello extended power uprate in a letter to Chairman Allison M. Macfarlane dated September 16, 2013 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML13252A287). The NRC staff agrees with your recommendation that the agency should approve the extended power uprate for Monticello.
The NRC staff appreciates the Committees very thorough review of this extended power uprate application and the associated safety evaluation report. The NRC staff recognizes the Committees commitment to safety and appreciates the continued support of the power uprate process.
