This email provides a status update concerning your April 23, 2012, 2.206 petition that requested the NRC shut down or prohibit restart of the Saint Lucie and Turkey Point nuclear plants, until an investigation of the AMES Group LLC is complete and everything has been verified safe. This status update is provided in keeping with the guidance in Management Directive 8.11, Review Process for 10 CFR 2.206 petitions.
On August 29, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) notified you via letter that the Petition Review Board (PRB) accepted your petition. As stated in the letter, your petition was being held in abeyance pending the outcome of Region IIs examination. Region II has completed its examination, and the PRB review also has been completed. You will be notified of the results of this review.
This email also notifies you that the NRCs Executive Director for Operations authorized an extension to the PRB due date for providing you with the results of its review until November 1, 2013. Please let me know if you have any questions related to the review of your petition. My contact information in included below.
