RE: Columbia Condenser Tubes It should be. We have an e-mail from the plant regarding the condenser tube material, and NMFS seems to have accepted that.

RE: REQUEST: Columbia Condenser Tubes Sent on behalf of Zach Dunham -

Lynnea, The attached National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) provide the requested effluent water quality information following the 2011 replacement of Columbia Generating Station's main condenser.

In a letter dated May 7, 2012, the NMFS Regional Administrator requested that the State of Washington Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) provide the NMFS with the opportunity to evaluate the draft NPDES permit prior to issuance and offer technical assistance regarding federally protected species. Assuming that NMFS has now been provided the opportunity to review and offer technical assistance to EFSEC, I suggest that NMFS work directly with EFSEC to obtain any future NPDES related information requests which may provide a more timely response to their requests.

RE: Columbia Condenser Tubes

Mohan, Have you by any chance received any information from the licensee on the water quality data?

RE: Columbia Condenser Tubes

Mohan, I apologize for all the emails.

NMFS has requested additional information regarding the water quality effluent data since the replacement of the tubes. This would be a requirement that the licensee would have as part of their NPDES permit. At this time NMFS is looking for those same quarterly reports. We are attempting to keep the information requests informal and avoid any rigid RAI's.

However, the consultation is no longer part of license renewal so our former EN contact may no longer be appropriate. Do you have a contact at Columbia that I could get in touch with as we go through the last details of this consultation?

I appreciate your assistance and thanks in advance, Paula E. RE: Columbia Condenser Tubes 3

Zach:

The NRC staff would like to know if the replacement tubes were made from titanium, if not then please describe the tube material. If the information is proprietary, please so indicate.

Thanks.

Mahan

Mohan, Thanks for the info! Do you by any chance know what material it is made out of?

The replacement jogged the aquatic staffs memory and they seem to recall it being replaced with titanium. Is it possible to confirm this info with the licensee? Unfortunately I can't find any info on the docket.
