NRC OFFICE OF INVESTIGATIONS REPORT NO. 3-2013-001

Dear Mr. Schimmel:

This refers to an investigation conducted by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Office of Investigations (OI) to determine whether a radiation protection specialist at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant willfully failed to comply with the fatigue work hour rules.

Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, we did not substantiate the allegation. The synopsis from the OI Report of Investigation is enclosed.

OI SYNOPSIS This investigation was initiated on October 15, 2012, by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Office of Investigations, Region III, to determine whether a Radiation Protection (RP) Specialist at the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant willfully failed to comply with the fatigue work hour rules at the site.

Based upon the evidence, this investigation did not substantiate the allegation that an RP Specialist willfully failed to comply with the fatigue work hour rules at the site.
