Subject:

Tennessee Valley Authority. Request for Concurrence with list of federally listed species and habitats for the proposed Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2, License Renewal.

Dear Ms.Wong:

Thank you for your correspondence dated March 20, 2013, concerning the Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA) application to renew the operating license for Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SNP), Units 1 and 2. The plant is located on the western shore of Chickamauga Lake, Tennessee River Mile 484.5R in Hamilton County, Tennessee. If approved, the license renewal would authorize TVA to operate SNP for an additional 20 years beyond the current licensing periods, which expire on September 17, 2020 (Unit 1),

and September 15, 2021 (Unit 2).

Your letter indicates that the license renewal would include continued operation and maintenance of SNP and its associated transmission lines (those portions of the lines that extend from the reactor buildings to the first substation). TVA does not plan to construct any new buildings or transmission lines, undertake any other land-clearing or ground disturbing activities, or otherwise alter current operating conditions during the license renewal term. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has requested U.S.

Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) concurrence with the following list of federally listed species that may occur in the vicinity of SNP in accordance with 50 CFR 402.12(c).

Pink mucket (Lampsilis abrupta)

Cumberland monkeyface (Quadrula intermedia)

Dromedary pearlymussel (Dromus dromas)

Snail darter (Percina tan asi)

Orangefoot pimpleback (Plethobasus cooperianus)

Rough pigtoe (Pleurobema plenum)

Small whorled pogonia (Isotria medeoloides)

Large-flowered skullcap (Scutellaria montana)

Virginia spiraea (Spfraea virginiana)

Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis)

The submitted list of species is consistent with known records in our database. Therefore the Service concurs with NRC's list for federally listed species that may occur in the vicinity of SNP.

Please contact Robbie Sykes of my staff at 931/525-4979 or ro bbie sykes@jws.gov if you have questions regarding the information provided in this letter.
