TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE REQUEST - REVIEW OF MAINE YANKEE REQUEST FOR THRESHOLD DETERMINATION (TAC NO. L24748)
The Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation (SFST), Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS), requests technical assistance from the Division of Inspection and Regional Support (DIRS), Financial Analysis and International Projects Branch (IFAIB), for the completion of the following project:
PROJECT: Threshold determination for the planned merger of Maine Public Service Company
("MPS") and Bangor Hydro Electric Company ("Bangor Hydro Electric").
DOCKET NOS: 50-309, 72-30 TAC NO: L24748 LICENSE NO: DPR-36 REQUESTED ACTION: NMSS/SFST requests that DIRS/IFAIB review the letter from Mr. Authur Domby to Ms. Beth Mizuno dated May 6, 2013 (ADAMS No. ML13150A027). Based on the results of your review, please prepare an evaluation documenting the staffs position on whether NRC consent is required.
To facilitate this request, we ask that you respond by July 31, 2013. Should any additional information be needed from the applicant to support your review, we ask that you transmit a draft request for additional information to us by August 30, 2013. The applicant will normally be allowed one month to provide a response. The SFST project manager will keep your staff informed of any schedule changes.
