No individual monitoring performed at Rancho Seco has resulted in doses greater than 25 mrem in 2012. Since late 2008, the only remaining radiation area at Rancho Seco is the area immediately adjacent to the stored fuel at the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI). Entries into the radiation area are made infrequently, and for relatively short durations. In addition, no movement of any of the stored radioactive material at Rancho Seco is currently planned, including both spent fuel at the ISFSI and stored low-level radioactive waste in the Interim Onsite Storage Building (IOSB). Therefore, it is unlikely that any individual could receive an occupational radiation exposure greater than the values indicated in 10 CFR 20.1502(a) and no personnel monitoring for radiation exposure was required in 2012. Areas adjacent to the stored materials in the IOSB exhibit radiation levels that would require monitoring if they were accessible, as would be the case during movement of the materials.

If and when the stored radioactive materials are moved, personnel will be monitored for occupational radiation exposure.

REIRS Project Manager DPG 13-079 In addition, no areas exist at the facility that are controlled for purposes of limited intake of radioactive materials (i.e., no areas of airborne or loose contamination). Therefore, it is unlikely that any individual could receive an occupational radiation exposure greater than the values indicated in 10 CFR 20.1502(b) and no personnel monitoring for intake of radioactive materials was required or performed in 2012.
