INITIAL CONDITIONS

1.

You are an extra NSO.

2.

The unit has experienced an ATWS situation, and _BFR-S.1 has been entered INITIATING CUE

1.

All attempts to trip the reactor from the control room have been unsuccessful.

2.

The Unit Supervisor directs you to locally trip the reactor per _BFR-S.1.

3.

This is a time critical JPM.

The examinee should perform a two minute drill at the work site.

NOTE The examinee may request to contact the Control Room with a First Check to ensure they are at the correct location. If that is done provide the following CUE:

CUE: First check with Control Room acknowledged.

Provide the examinee with a copy of _BFR S.1.

Placing the Generator side Note OR Alternate path initiated in the following step.

2.

The Weekly Battery Operability Surveillance, _BOSR 8.6.1-1, has just been completed with all parameters in spec.

3.

The required ventilation alignment for the battery charging has just been verified by another EO.

4.

A second person qualified in CPR/First Aid is available.

INITIATING CUE The Unit _ NSO requests you to place the _11 Batteries on equalize for 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> using the timer, per PED request, IAW BOP DC-5.

Perform BOSR Cue: Per Initial Conditions,

PERFORM the applicable BOSR:

Ensure adequate ventilation Cue: Per Initial Conditions, ventilation conditions have been verified.

ENSURE adequate ventilation for the battery being placed on equalize by checking Battery Room Exhaust Fan, _VE02C/

_VE03C, running.

A battery charger may not be placed into equalize while crosstied.

NOTE

3.

Ensure DC bus not cross-tied.

Cue: The component you have identified is in the position you described.

At DC Bus _11 or _12

  • Check Bus Tie Breaker DF1 OPEN.
4.

Verify charger in FLOAT.

Cue: The component you have identified is in the position you described.

At Battery Charger _11 or _12 VERIFY charger selector switch in the "FLOAT" position.

  • Verify charger output voltage increases to approximately 135.7 volts.

Inform supervision of problem Cue: Acknowledge examinees explanation of the problem.

o Inform supervision of problem NOTE:

As Unit Supervisor direct the examinee to place the _11 OR _12 battery charger in the Equalize Mode.

Cue: place the (choose one) _11 OR _12 battery charger in the Equalize Mode using BOP DC-5.

2.

Unit-1/2 is experiencing a loss of Essential Service Water.

INITIATING CUE The Unit Supervisor has directed you to perform the actions necessary to align FP cooling to the 1/2A Centrifugal Charging pump per 1/2BOA PRI-7, Attachment B.

ELEMENT SAT STANDARD UNSAT Comment Number NOTE It is intended to use the 1A CV pump with this JPM. If the 1A CV pp is operating then use the 2A CV pp. These pumps are chosen because of dose. The evaluator should choose the CV pump with the lowest dose rate and least interference with current plant conditions/configuration. The 2A CV pp valve numbers are given in parenthesis.

1. Refer to 1BOA PRI-7, Attachment B, Essential Service Water Malfunction Note: This step may be performed at any time.

o OPEN 1BOA PRI-7, Attachment B, Essential Service Water Malfunction (2BOA PRI-7 att. B)

NOTE Provide the examinee with a copy of the _BOA PRI-7, Attachment B NOTE The Hose stations for both Units are located at V-18, 364 (Outside the 2A CV Pump Rm)

  • 2. Connect FP cooling to proper Centrifugal Charging pump o 1A CV pp: 364 V-18 (2A CV pp: 364 V-18)

Cue: The component you have pointed to is in the condition you indicated.

At 1/2 A/B CV pump room:

  • CONNECT FP supply hose
  • 3. Align FP cooling to 1/2 A/B Centrifugal Charging pump.

Ensure correct valve is opened for the desired pump.

Cue: The component you have pointed to is in the position you indicated.

At V-18 on 364 elevation Open FP Hose supply isolation valve

  • 1A CV pp: 0FP5170 (0FP5171)
