Subject:

Questions Mr. Gray, We need information about the 9-30-11 "Untimely Declaration of Notification of Unusual Event for Limerick Nuclear Plant Following an Earthquake."

The earthquake occurred in VA 8-23-11 and effects could actually be felt in our region.

When we realized Limerick was cited for an "unusual event", we tried to learn what actually happened at Limerick to trigger the notice.

We were hoping we would get answers at the 3/23/13 NRC meeting, but no one could provide us with specific information.

Now we are asking you to provide specifics about the event, including:

What exactly did the unusual event at Limerick include?

What systems or equipment were affected?

What responses or actions were required as a result?

When did Exelon notify NRC?

What can be done about Exelon's failure to notify the NRC immediately after such an event?

We are dismayed that Exelon seems to have established a pattern of failing to notify NRC immediately after events at Limerick. Even worse, there is little, if any price for Exelon to pay for this derliction. What does NRC plan to do about this?

Please respond as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for addressing our concerns, Betty and Charlie Shank
