Dear Mr. King:

Im emailing you to provide an update of your 2.206 petition request for immediate action to shut down or not let the nuclear plants, Saint Lucie and Turkey Point, start up until a criminal investigation of the AMES Group LLC is complete and everything has been verified safe. As the basis for the request, you stated that the AMES Group LLC submitted forged or falsified training documents to Florida Power & Light Company stating that personnel have attended AMES advanced MOV diagnostic training class. This status update fulfills the guidance in Management Directive 8.11, Review Process for 10 CFR 2.206 petitions for periodic status updates On August 29, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission notified you via letter that the Petition Review Board (PRB) accepted your petition. As stated in the letter, your petition is being held in abeyance pending the outcome of Region IIs examination.

Region IIs examination is still ongoing. Once Region II has completed its examination, the PRB will complete its review and notify you its results by letter (Proposed Director Decision). It should be noted that the NRCs Executive Director authorized an extension to the PRB due date to August 23, 2013. The due date extension will provide sufficient time for the Region II staff to complete its investigation and review, and the PRB to review the results of the Region IIs investigation and issue the associated proposed directors decision. Thank you again for your patience.

It should also be noted that, as part of the NRC staffs rotation of licensing Project Managers, I have assumed the duties of Project Manager for Turkey Point, Units 3 and 4, including the responsibility of managing your April 23, 2012, petition related to the Turkey Point and Saint. Lucie sites. Mr. Jason Paige will no longer be your contact for this petition.

Please let if you have any questions related to the review of your petition. My contact information in included below.

Regards, Farideh E. Saba, P.E.
