- NON EMERGENCY "At approximately 0855 on March 20th, 2013 a live sturgeon was captured from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon, which is an
'endangered' species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as 'endangered' species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hr. report to the NRC under RAL 11.8-2.a. At approximately 0905 EDT the sturgeon was released back into the Delaware River following identification. A report was made to the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon at 0928 by Environmental Licensing" Notifed R1DO and the Endangered Species Group via email.
