"At approximately D650 on March 15th, 2013 a live sturgeon was captured from the Salem Unit 1 Circulating Water System (CWS) Intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station. The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon, which is an "endangered" species. Atlantic sturgeons are federally listed as "endangered" species under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended_ Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hr report to the NRC under RAL 11.8,2,a.
"At approximately D920 the sturgeon was released back into the river following identification.
"A report was made to the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon at 1003 by Environmental Licensing.
The licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector.
Notified the R1DO (Dentel) and Endangered Species GRP via email.
