On March 12, 2012, the NRC issued Reference 1 to request information associated with Near-Term Task Force (NTTF) Recommendation 2.1 for Flooding. One of the required responses in that letter directed licensees to submit an approach for developing an Integrated Assessment Report, including criteria for identifying vulnerabilities, within 60 days after issue of the NRC's guidance on the subject. On November 30, 2012, the NRC issued the Interim Staff Guidance (Reference 2).
The following is Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc.'s (DEK) 60-day response.
DEK will use the Reference 2 guidance as the approach for developing the NTTF 2.1 flooding Integrated Assessment Report for Kewaunee Power Station (KPS) if the reevaluated flooding hazard is not bounded by the current design basis flooding evaluation.
DEK will also use the guidance provided by Reference 3 regarding the trigger conditions and scope of any required Integrated Assessment.
Serial No.13-009 Docket No. 50-305 Page 2 of 3 On November 2, 2012, DEK informed the NRC of its plans to permanently cease power operation of KPS.
If power operations cease prior to required submittal of the Integrated Assessment Report, DEK may not complete the report for KPS.
