February 27, 2013 Joseph E. Pollock Vice President, Nuclear Operations Nuclear Energy Institute 1201 F Street, NW, Suite 1100 Washington, DC 20004
Dear Mr. Pollock:
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has received the Nuclear Energy Institutes (NEIs) January 28, 2013, letter regarding industry implementation of multi-unit dose assessment capability (Agencywide Document Access and Management System Accession No. ML13028A200), and we appreciate NEIs efforts to compile and provide the NRC this information. We understand, based upon the survey referenced in your letter, that many licensees currently have a multi-unit dose assessment capability in place and that other licensees expect to acquire this capability sometime in 2014.
However, the NRC requests additional details such as the number of sites that currently have multi-unit dose assessment capability, the number of sites which do not, and when specifically all licensees will have the capability to conduct multi-unit dose assessment. In addition, we would like to know when NEI will develop guidance for the use of this multi-unit dose assessment capability and how licensees intend to track its implementation.
If this additional information is available please provide it no later than March 13, 2013, to help fully inform the regulatory decision regarding this Near Term Task Force issue.
Sincerely,
/Marc Dapas RA for/
