RE: Branch 2 Summary of Changes April 2012.docx FitzPatrick nuclear plant is a GE Mark 1 BWR. The current licensing bases does not require the plant to have a primary containment torus air space hardened vent systems as part of the Mark 1 containment improvement program. The current licensed configuration is a hard pipe from the primary containment to the suction of the standby gas treatment system, which is located outside the reactor building in an adjacent building at ground level. The NRC will monitor Entergy's response to the Fukishima Orders and 10 CFR 50.54f letter issued on March 9, 2011.
I believe we will do more than "monitor." Would we not review for acceptability and "take appropriate next steps to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements"? I don't think "monitor" captures our next steps.
