B/B-UFSAR 16.2-1 REVISION 4 - DECEMBER 1992 16.2 PROPOSED FINAL T ECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The Technical Specificat ions for Byron/Braidwood Stations are issued by the NRC as Appendix A to the Operating License.

Because of their evolving nature during original def inition, and their subsequent revision during plant operations, the Technical Specifications are placed in a separate document.

This deviation from Regu latory Guide 1.70 on FSAR format and content is justified on the basis of NRC

's Proof of Review Draft of the Byron Technic al Specifications, dated December 16, 1983.

B/B-UFSAR 16.3-1 REVISION 11 - DECEMBER 2006 16.3 IMPROVED TECHNIC AL SPECIFICATIONS On December 22, 1998, the NRC issued Ame ndments No. 106 and No.

98 to the Technical Sp ecifications for Byron Nuclear Station and Braidwood Nuclear Station, r espectively. Th ese amendments approved the conversion to the Improved Tech nical Specifications (ITS) format, using NUREG-1431, "Stand ard Technical Specifications for Westi nghouse Plants," Revision 1, as a basis.

As a result of the con version to the ITS, re quirements supporting various plant conditions, actions, and testi ng which support operation of the plant were relocated from the Technical Specifications to th e Technical Requirem ents Manual (TRM).

The TRM is incorporated by reference into th e UFSAR and is under the control of Exelon Genera tion Company. Changes to the TRM may be made without prior NRC approval pro vided the chan ges do not require NRC approval p ursuant to 10 CFR 50.5

9. The TRM revision process contains provisi ons to ensure th at the TRM is maintained consistent with the UFSAR.

Proposed changes that require NRC approval pursu ant to 10 CFR 50.59 are reviewed and approved by t he NRC prior to implementation. Chang es to the TRM implemented without prior NRC approval are provided to the NRC on a frequency cons istent with 10 CFR 50.71(e).
