Diablo Canyon Dear NRC Chairman McFarlane Thank you for keeping our safety in mind regarding Diablo Canyon, in light that it sets on many earthquake faults. However, now that you have determined that the Shoreline Fault poses no threat to the power plant, I am writing to ask that you cancel the seismic testing proposed in our area.

According to seismologists, the testing will not give a significant gain in knowledge, and our protected marine areas, local economy and marine life could be hurt if the testing goes forth.

Respectfully submitted, Diane Smith 402 Montebello Oaks Drive Paso Robles, CA 93446 I

Seimic Testing Honorable Commissioners, Thank you for your efforts in examining the safety levels of Diablo Nuclear Plant and the subterranean geologic formations around it. Now that you have determined that the newly discovered Shoreline Fault poses no threat to the power plant, I respectfully urge you to cancel the seismic testing proposed for the Central Coast of California. There is not much to be gained by such tests, and our Marine Protected Areas, ocean based economy and marine life are all just too precious to lose.

please no seismic testing near morro bay Hi, i am a concerned citizen of morro bay and am begging that no seismic testing is done off our california coast to see if pg@e is a safe nuclear power plant. we don't need to kill the marine life to know what we already know. it is not safe to have a nuclear power plant on all of theses earthquake faults. we have not figured out what to do with the nuclear waste and it is over time to stop focusing on nuclear power and to move to clean energy.

sincerely, dana gibson 1

DearMr. Chairman,

My name is Maureen Steffen, and I am a 21 year resident of the Central Coast of California, and a Native Californian. The issue regardingthe seismic testing around the Diablo Canyon NuclearPowerplant came to my attention afew months ago. Around that same time there was an amazing thing that happened in Avila Bay. I was able to witness so many dolphins arriving there andputting on a show for all to see. Swimming, racingeach other, jumping andplaying around the pier and close to shore. Then the whales came to play. I did not see this live, but saw photosfrom friends who were there and saw them breachingright next to their kayak. What I am getting at, is we love our sea life here in the Central Coast! It is a protectedsanctuary, and the joy that the otters, dolphins, whales, seals and other sea creaturesbringto us is beyond measure.

A friend of mine informed me today that the NRC has already deemed Diablo Canyon NuclearPower plant "safe" at this time. I truly believe with everything I have read about this seismic testing, that it is a waste of taxpayer dollars, andposes way to high of a risk to our wonderful sea life off the shores ofAvila Beach and the entire Central Coast! Please, what ever you can do to help us stop this possibly devastatingprocess of seismic testing, and protect the peace and lives of these innocent, and awesome creatures,I would be forever grateful.

When Ifirst moved to the CentralCoastfrom the Bay Area in 1991, I lived in Avila. My husband was a localfisherman, and it was the best summer of my life. Diablo Canyon was just down the road, and I knew many people that worked there and still know people who work there. The plant has employed many Central Coast residents and given them excellent, steady good payingjobs. Diablo sits in an extremely beautiful enviorniment.

Please, lets respect the waters surroundingthe plant! Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, and I am going on faith that these test will be stopped. Your word could make all the difference!

Again, Thank you!

Sincerely, Maureen Steffen surfdreams(itt.net I
