Preliminary UT results
- All, The preliminary results from the additional UT performed on the original 8 CRDs for EOC did not reveal any flaws/cracks originating from the ID or the OD. It did identify imdications the analyst called pipe/plate trash throughout the circumference of the witness area, closer to the OD than the ID but completely contained within the thickness of the material. This was identified in most if not all of the 8 CRD housings examined. The analyst said these could be elongated inclusions/pores from the manufacturing of the CRDM housing, but if that were the case he would expect to see this throughout the length of the pipe but these indications were only in the section of the witness area that was examined during this UT. The analyst was planning on sending this information to another Westinghouse expert to see what he thinks these indications are. We are engaging the licensee to see if they are planning on looking into what these indicatio.s are.
