On behalf of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), I am responding to your letter on September 6, 2012 providing an industry perspective on closure options for Generic Safety Issue (GSI) 191, Pressurized Water Reactor Sump Performance. In your letter, you also reaffirmed the industrys commitment to attaining a stable resolution to this long-standing GSI.
As you noted, the NRC staff provided the Commission with GSI-191 closure options in SECY-12-0093. Your letter will be part of the record considered by the Commission during its review of SECY-12-0093.
