Docket, Hearing

Subject:

Objections to new Indian Point licenses/Relicensing My comments are directed to the NRC and respectfully ask that they don't renew the Indian Point license.

Nuclear energy is dangerous, costly, uses natural resources that are presently limited (water) and if there is a nuclear accident, a mass population of people living near this nuclear plant will be affected permanently. There is no cure or cleanup. This would also permanently affect the financial stability of the area.

In addition, there is no solution to the nuclear waste that is generated. Without a permanent safe site for this waste, all local people will eventually be affected by the accumulation of this waste and it's storage.

Renewable energy is safe, costs less, and is not dangerous to the people living around the source. Renewable energy creates jobs and financial enterprise. There are very few jobs that are involved with a nuclear power plant's operation once it is built. The financial burden to the taxpayer is also less for renewable energy.

We are in a drought now and climate change is increasing the temperature of the water, nuclear power plants need cool water or they aren't allowed to operate. In addition, the warmer water is a hazard to the ecosystem and the wildlife.

Please do not approve this relicensing and instead move forward with clean and renewable energy. NUCLEAR is not clean energy.

Respectfully, Kris Cunningham 142 Sims Cr Waynesville NC 28786 DOCKETED USNRC September 14, 2012 (8:15 a.m.)
