Friday, September 14, 2012 2:55 PM Docket, Hearing Indian Point Nuclear Reactor I urge you to close the Indian Point Nuclear Reactor. There is no viable evacuation plan for the huge number of people that would be affected by a catastrophe. The nuclear waste is being kept in pools perilously near the Hudson River.
The release of cooling water into the Hudson is deleterious to the fish and water quality. Radiation releases, planned or accidental, could be harmful to public health. It is simply too risky to locate a nuclear reactor so close to a large metropolitan area.
