Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne

Subject:

Why I want the NRC to close down Indian Point I live at 5 Rose Hill Road, Suffern NY 10901.

My home is 2 doors in on Rose Hill Road off of Spook Rock Road which has been for decades the official dividing line with respect to evacuation procedures.

I can assure you that being 2 homes from Spook Road does not give me even a smidgen of peace of mind when contemplating the potential danger that is the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.

I am not opposed to all Nuclear Power Plans but having one so old in close proximity to such a a highly dense area really really worries me.

I would like to see Indian Point closed permanently and no new plants opened until there is a

federally controlled program to deal with the radioactive waste.

Sid Singer is a family member on my husbands side and was involved in planning for emergency evacuations in Rockland County and his main efforts were related to planning for an Indian Point emergency plan.

We talked at length about this many times and despite his best efforts as well as the efforts of other people who deal with emergency preparedness in Rockland County, there has never been a good or reliable plan.

If there is a disaster, it will be a true disaster that would put Hurrican Katrina to shame.

I believe that this area could live without Indian Point until other sources are found.

Best wishes, Deborah Seidman for Deborah Seidman & Richard Munitz 5 Rose Hill Road Suffern NY 10901 DOCKETED USNRC September 14, 2012 (8:15 a.m.)
