Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne
Subject:
Please do not re-license Indian Point Ms. Siamacki, As a resident living in the shadow of Indian Point, I strongly urge the NRC to not re-license the facility.
Indian Point's continued operation poses a significant, ongoing risk to the environment. The cooling water intake system is outdated, needlessly killing millions of fish and other aquatic creatures. Unfortified waste containment is leaking radioactive isotopes into the Hudson River. Indian Point's owner, Entergy, has been aware of these problems for decades and refuses to take action.
The continued operation also poses a significant potential risk to human health. An "unworkable" evacuation plan is unacceptable. The unfortified waste storage is a terrorist target and human health concern. The potential for a significant meltdown, similar to Fukushima Daiichi, would destroy the region.
It just isn't worth it.
Please do not re-license Indian Point.
Sincerely, Janelle H. Robbins, LEED AP 1879 Hanover St., Yorktown Heights, NY 10536 DOCKETED USNRC September 13, 2012 (12:51 p.m.)
