Indian Point Units 2 and 3 License Renewal Application NRC Docket Nos. 50-247-LR and 50-286-LR and ASLBP No. 07-858-03-LR-BDO1
Dear Hearing Docket Manager:
I live nearby the Indian Point Power and am writing to express my support for the re-licensing of Indian Point Units 2 and 3 in Buchanan, NY. It is my understanding that the NRC is considering numerous issues in connection with the license renewal application, including the effect of re-licensing on land values in the area near the plants.
Indian Point has approximately 1,100 employees and usually has, on average, another 200 contractors on site. The facility spends $137 million in annual full-time employee payroll, pays $75 million in annual property taxes and revenue sharing with the State of New York, and generously makes significant annual donations of roughly $1.5 million to area charities!!
Within our community, Indian Point is frequently recognized as a most generous corporate neighbor.
From an electric reliability standpoint, Indian Point supplies between 25% and 30% of the electricity for New York City and the lower Westchester County area. This baseload supply of electricity from the plants helps to maintain the reliability of the electric grid. Indian Point's significant positive economic impact and its important contribution to grid reliability are factors that help maintain land values in the 1

communities near the plant. Those values would surely decrease if the facility were closed.
I encourage you to renew the license for Indian Point after you have completed the appropriate safety and environmental reviews. Thank you for considering my comments, on this issue.
Sincerely, Marianne Oros cc:
