Wednesday, September 12, 2012 9:23 PM Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne No relicensing of Indian Point!
Dear NRC Commissioners and Staff:
I am quite concerned that you are considering relicensing for Indian Point. The reactors at Indian Point are too old, too uncertain, and too dangerous to be relicensed. Given the proximity to New York City, a major accident at Indian Point would be an unmitigated catastrophe. As more and more energy is produced from renewable resources, there is less and less need for nuclear power. Nuclear power is lethal forever, abhorrently expensive, very unsafe, and furthermore unnecessary. Instead of continuing to operate Indian Point with all the risks that involves, close it down asap, boost the development of renewable energy from all renewable sources, and use less. That IS the future. Continuation of nuclear power is going backwards toward the past.
For the sake of your grandchildren's grandchildren and all life on earth, close down Indian Point and phase out ALL nuclear power as soon as possible.
