Monday, September 10, 2012 11:28 PM Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne Please Decommission Indian Point 2 and 3
Dear NRC Staff,
My name is Roberto Muller and I live in Cold Spring, NY, approximately 10 miles north of Indian Point Energy Center. I am writing to urge you not to relicense Indian Point Reactor 2 nor Reactor 3 because 1) our short-term repositories for spent uranium fuel (two thirty-foot deep pools of water) are vulnerable to either seismic activity or a terrorist attack, and are over-packed with still highly radioactive fuel rods, 2) we have no long-term repository for spent uranium fuel since dry cask storage may serve for only 100 years, and 3) the use of MOX fuel for reprocessing is too risky for our two forty-year old reactors (and whether it is safe for new reactors is yet to be determined and highly unlikely given the need to handle plutonium (i.e. Rocky Flats)). Thus, it would be negligent of you - a regulatory staff charged with protecting me, my family, my community, and my local ecosystem from a catastrophic release of radioctive material - to permit Entergy Corporation or any future owner of Indian Point to produce even a single additional spent fuel rod. I humbly ask you to consider my request.
Thank you!
Sincerely, Roberto DOCKETED USNRC September 10, 2012(11:28 p.m.)
