DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY/FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY, STATE OF MINNESOTA EXERCISE DEFICIENCY FINDING TRANSMITTAL LETTER TO PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Mr. Molden:
We received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V letter, dated July 27, 2012, for the July 10, 2012, Full Participation Plume Exposure Pathway Exercise at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (ADAMS Accession Number ML12243A469).
One deficiency finding was identified by FEMA Region V staff. The deficiency finding for the State of Minnesota was identified under Criterion 3.d.2. - an implementation process involving identification and resolution of impediments to evacuation. This issue was presented to the exercise participants during the Participants Meeting on July 13, 2012.
We fully recognize that any corrective actions to be implemented may involve parties and political institutions, which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we expect that assistance, if appropriate, will be extended.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document
