Docket, Hearing; Siarnacki, Anne

Subject:

Urges Closure of Indian Point I am writing to join a growing number of environmental advocates and politicians calling for Indian Point Energy Center in Westchester County to be shut down. I am alarmed that this aging nuclear plant poses a danger to the 8 million people who live 24 miles to the south in New York City -

especially after what was learned from the Fukushima disaster.

I understand that the nuclear waste is stored unsafely there with more than 1,500 tons of dangerous nuclear waste in unfortified containers. Another 1,000 tons would be added if the NRC re-licenses the plant - I understand it is considering Entergy's application to re-license these aging Indian Point reactors for another 20 years.

Please protect us. Please do not re-license. Please shut this plant down Please consider focusing on developing the clean energy that has been proven to exist for the sake of ourselves and the generations to come.

Thank you.

Sincerely, DOCKETED USNRC July 16, 2012 (8:30 a.m.)
